BLTX IX: Culture Jamming Independent Artists Congress

December 14, 2019, 4 to 7 PM, Sikat Studio, Tomas Morato, Quezon City
Dear Friends,
In light of the ongoing state crackdown on activists resulting to socio-political unrest, Better Living Through Xeroxography (BLTX) Year IX spearheads Culture Jamming: An Independent Artists Congress on December 14, Saturday at Sikat, Inc., 305 Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City.
The small press expo aims to gather small / independent artist collectives / individuals to strengthen and expand alliances in promoting awareness about pressing issues such as tyranny, impunity, and injustice. In the forum at 4 PM, Sama-samang Artista para sa Kilusang Agraryo (SAKA), Kamandag, Magpies Press, Gantala Press, Me & My Veg Mouth, SIKAD, and Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP) will discuss the importance of art and cultural work in the fight for social justice. The speakers will share their best practices in working with communities like peasants, workers, and the urban poor; as well as possibilities of art in building solidarity with the powerless, whom it must serve. There is no entrance fee to the forum and expo.
If you would like to contribute to / collaborate with any of the artist groups mentioned above, or are interested in joining the BLTX network / alliance of artists, please register one or more representatives of your group (name, group, brief description of the group) at gantalapress@gmail.com on or before December 9, 2019 with the subject line: “Culture Jamming.” Please feel free to pass this invitation to friends and allies.
