“The first-ever Kapihan session of Heights Ateneo in collaboration with the Ateneo Fine Arts Department happened on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Ben Chan Artsuite in the Arete. The featured speakers were Faye Cura and Rae Rival of Gantala Press who talked about the roles of women in writing and publishing. Cura discussed the rich history of female writers in the Philippines and their struggle against oppression in a patriarchal society throughout the years. Rival, on the other hand, led a zine-making workshop in which the participants were assigned articles that they were to relate to their body parts, inspired by Rival’s own and her students’ zines.”
